1st Annual LexLin Gives Back - Honoring Our Heroes

A Veteran who has served in Iraq or Afghanistan will have the opportunity to own a Gypsy Vanner gelding presented to them on July 4, 2011 by LexLin Gypsy Ranch. Please read details below and nominate a horse loving Veteran today!

 


LexLin Gypsy Ranch is proud to give back to our heroes that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our ranch is owned and operated by a former Marine Corps Mustang Officer who understands the sacrifice made by our brave men and women serving in the armed forces. This is why we have decided to offer LexLin's Braveheart, a beautiful Gypsy Vanner gelding, born on April 7, 2010, to a well deserving United States Veteran. We are excited to find this Gypsy Vanner an exceptional home that will be announced on July 4th! Based on his current size we estimate Braveheart will mature at just over 14 hands, and will be suitable for many activities from carriage driving to trail riding.

The Gypsy Vanner has been bred by Gypsies for decades to pull their caravans and they are an integral part of the Gypsy way of life. They make excellent driving horses and are known for their extremely friendly and gentle personalities, flashy looks and also make excellent candidates for dressage, pleasure riding, and children's mounts. We know Braveheart will bring joy to his new family for many years to come. You can read more about the breed standard and conformation on our website.

HOW TO NOMINATE A VETERAN


It is easy to nominate a veteran by completing the nomination form, which includes a small essay on why this person deserves to be the proud owner of a new found family member! Please be sure to review the required qualifications of the nominee and the rules of the contest on this page prior to submitting a nomination.

The nomination essays (subject to approval by LexLin Gypsy Ranch) will be posted on facebook and the final winner will be decided by your fan votes on LexLin Gypsy Ranch's Facebook Fan Page. The nominating period will be from May 23rd  to  midnight EST on June 19th. The essays will be posted on facebook and voting will begin on June 20th and end on July 3rd at midnight EST.  The winner will be announced at noon EST on July 4, 2011!

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have served honorably in the armed forces for at least 1 year in either Afghanistan or Iraq, active or reserve duty is acceptable
  • Provide proof of a proper stable to care for the LexLin Gypsy Vanner (Additional verification and photos may be requested if selected as the finalist)
  • Must provide proof of adequate means to feed and care for the LexLin Gypsy Vanner.
  • Fill in nomination form that includes an essay with a minimum of 200 words on why the nominee should be chosen to receive LexLin's Braveheart

RULES

  • Nominations will be accepted between May 23rd and midnight EST on June 19, 2011
  • The finalist will be chosen and voting will begin the evening on June 20th and will end on July 3rd at midnight EST. The winner will be announced at noon EST on July 4, 2011
  • Veteran may self nominate if desired
  • Must be able to provide transportation for horse from LexLin Gypsy Ranch in Rockwood, TN 37854
  • If someone else is nominating a veteran, the veteran has to have knowledge of the nomination
  • The selected LexLin Gypsy Vanner nominee will be announced at noon on the 4th of July via our website, facebook, and other media outlets
  • LexLin will ensure the Gypsy Vanner is current on all shots, worming, farrier, coggins, and health certificate to be ready to travel no later than the 15th of July
  • If the selected nominee has any concerns or challenges in providing adequate care for the Gypsy Vanner, LexLin will take back Braveheart at no cost to the Veteran
  • All Nominations should be submitted via the online nomination form 
  • The Gypsy Vanner horse to be donated is LexLin’s Braveheart. He is a one year old gelding.
  • The winner must be willing to sign LexLin's Placement Contract before taking ownership of the horse.
  • Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. You understand that you are providing your information to LexLin Gypsy Ranch and not to Facebook. By entering this contest, entrant gives full consent to LexLin Gypsy Ranch to use excerpts from or the full essay including name of entrant and photograph, for marketing, advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
  • Vote Trading is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification from this contest and all future contests sponsored by LexLin Gypsy Ranch. The use of any online vote trading website such as www.getonlinevotes.com, voting chat room, voting blog, voting forum or social media voting platforms will automatically result in disqualification.
