      1st Gypsy Horse Auction Winners!

Posted on November 27, 2010 with 2 Comments

Our first Gypsy Horse Auction was a fantastic experience and a great success for all involved! Duncan sold at the buy it now price of $9,000 after some very competitive bidding while Stoney sold for $4,100. Most importantly our two auction geldings Duncan and Stoney found a wonderful new home with a prominent family in Colorado with 36 acres of pasture,  a 4 stall barn and plenty of children to give them lots of love and care! Stephen and Kelley and their children delightedly welcomed the two Gypsy Vanner geldings along with Surprise (a  LexLin Gypsy Vanner mare) into their home this past week. Eric Barton had the pleasure of personally delivering the 3 Gypsy Vanners to their new family! “I could not have dreamed of a better fit for these two geldings”, said Mechelle. “Duncan and Stoney have been together since birth, they got weaned together, gelded together and we are beyond thrilled that they went to the same new wonderful home with lots of children to play with!”

We at LexLin Gypsy Ranch believe wholeheartedly in this breed and are working all angles possible to help the Gypsy Horses become more well known and gain popularity here in the United States. All of our auctions start with a reasonable reserve price and we do our best to ensure these horses go to qualified homes. We offer personal deliver for auction horses at $.95/mile to make sure they have the best of care while traveling and insure all of our horses through to their new home!

These Gypsy Horse auctions have generated much new interest in the Gypsy Horse breed and we’re delighted to be able to continue to offer a limited number of our breeding and or quality family and competition  Gypsy horses available through this new sales format each month.

Check out the next Gypsy Horse auction starting today, Nov 28th and run through Dec. 13th, 2010! If you’ve ever wanted a chance to get a nice Gypsy Horse at a reasonable price and enjoy the thrill of a well run auction, we’ll look forward to your participation! Gypsy Horse Pasture Tour

Posted on November 17, 2010 with No Comments

Our 2010 Gypsy Horse Open House concluded with the pasture tour followed by dinner and live music by Jason Elis.

      Pasture Tour

While people could admire the Gypsy Horses throughout the day there’s nothing most enjoyed quite as much as the pasture tour. Whether looking at prospective horses to purchase or admiring and getting to know the Gypsy horse breed for the first time, there’s nothing better to gain first hand experience with their warm personable temperaments, beautiful looks and good conformation than interacting with them. 134 Gypsy horses were at the Open House. The tour took people past the smaller pens to the weanlings field, young mares, mares and foals, and the yearling fields.

      Dinner/Music Finale

To cap the event off in the evening, Buddy’s prepared a great meal with pulled pork, hamburgers and apple cobbler for desert. Dinner was accompanied by music from Jason Ellis.

The day was a wonderful success on all fronts and we look forward to many more Open Houses in the coming years!

“I had sooo much fun with my camera at your open house! When I win the lottery your ranch will be the first place I stop! Thank you for all your incredible horses and the chance for us wannabe Gypsy owners to spend time with them…” – Open House Attendee, Susan Jones

Watch for the Spring Gypsy Horse Open House date and Spring Production Sale to be posted in the coming weeks!

      Gypsy Horse Driving Demo

Posted on November 16, 2010 with No Comments

      Driving with Dreammaker
Ashley Jenkins of Big Hat Riding and the Gypsy Vanner Stallion Dreammaker demonstrated how a Gypsy Horse is perfectly suited for the competitive driving as well as pleasure driving realms. They started off navigating a cones course while introducing people to the various aspects of this discipline. Dreammaker was calm and collected throughout the entire performance and soaked up the attention from admirers at the end just like the other Gypsy Horses did at the end of their demonstrations earlier in the day.

      View his driving demo gallery

We can’t stress enough how we’re so grateful that these horses are not only beautiful and learn quickly but they also naturally want to be with people! Following his demonstration he took a young girl and her mother on a carriage ride around Grand Vista Bay that they won’t soon forget!

Watch for Dreammaker at shows, driving events and parades in the coming months. He’s also available for weddings, and other social events where you would like to provide carriage rides.

      Gypsy Horse Jumping Demo

Posted on November 15, 2010 with No Comments

2010 Open House Gypsy Horse Demonstrations continued…

In continuing with the recap of various discipline demonstrations by LexLin Gypsy Horses at our 2010 Open House we share a bit about a demo produced by one of our Gypsy Vanner Stallions below.

      Jumping with Sir Maverick

Matt Lawson and the tall, athletic Gypsy Vanner stallion, Sir Maverick demonstrated what can be done under saddle in the hunter/jumper disciplines with a few short months of work. Sir Maverick performed fluidly over the jumps amongst the trees in the pasture and showed that he enjoys a discipline suited to his athletic ability. This well proportioned Gypsy stallion is well suited for the English disciplines. Watch for him in the show ring with Matt in the coming months! He is standing at stud and is also offered for sale to the right party. This stallion will go far in helping educate the public on the versatility of the Gypsy horse breed.

STAR, Open House Prizes, Natural Horsemanship Demo

Posted on November 12, 2010 with No Comments

Our 201 Gypsy Open House was a day filled with much activity at LexLin Gypsy Ranch. In continuing the news from our 2010 Gypsy Horse Open House we recap some more of the day’s happenings for those who weren’t able to attend the open house.

      Charity Presentation – STAR

Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR) brought out the Gypsy Vanner Gelding Timone that we donated to their this past summer. We’re firm believers in supporting and encouraging growth in children and adults who have disabilities and other challenges and believe Gypsy Horses are a perfect fit for this type of work. Timone is in training as a therapy horse with STAR and progressing along rapidly! STAR is in awe of this breed’s ability to adapt to new situations and remain calm. Timone was a testament to this as he soaked in the attention from the crowds and STAR’s team at the event. LexLin is looking forward to giving another Gypsy Horse to STAR and will continue to support this charity program in the future. Gypsy Horses are in their element when working with people who need an understanding and calm but capable horse that thinks through situations before responding rather than reacting too quickly to unexpected events.

      Gypsy Horse Prizes

Raffle winners were announced throughout the event. Some of the prizes given away included:

      • LexLin’s Gift Pack which included assorted LexLin Apparel
      • Free breeding to The Producer was drawn by Hailey Burckhardt
      • Carriage ride for two with our stallion Dreammaker along with a framed photo of their ride went to Shari Yager and her mother Melissa.
      • A Free month of training with Mike Branch with purchase of a Gypsy Horse within the next year went to Garrett Simms.

      .

      Gypsy Horse Demonstrations

The demonstrations with several of our Gypsy Horses and their trainers was the highlight of the event for many. These horses show how well suited they are to a multitude of disciplines. They’re so versatile and willing to work with humans whole heartedly once you’ve gained their trust.

Natural Horsemanship / Trail with Jagged Dollar

Mike Branch of Flying B Horsemanship opened the demonstrations with Jagged Dollar in the outdoor arena. Over the course of an hour he presented Natural Horsemanship training philosophy and techniques while Jagged Dollar displayed how soft, supple and willing she was to do whatever Mike presented to her. A year ago she was somewhat traumatized from her trip over from Wales and humans were not on her list of favorites. Now this striking Gypsy mare is a willing, and unflappable horse navigation obstacles with a crowd and a large bouncy house and kids in the background that she didn’t bat an eye at. From ground work, flexing, side passing, two tracking, walking over bridges, through fluttering flags, backing around a corner, standing on a pedestal with Mike standing on her back with hat in hand, walking over a tall teeter totter with a pause at the top and a variety of other obstacles that tested her, she did it all without hesitation. Mike Branch is putting together a video of this demonstration. Watch gogypsy.com for coming details on the video that highlights his training techniques, natural horsemanship philosophies while he works Jagged Dollar through the trail course.

      Gypsy Vanner Stallions

The day started off with a presentation of our Gypsy Vanner stallions.

“Eric and Mechelle, thanks so much! We had a fabulous time and loved seeing all the beautiful Gypsies! I feel like I met some celebrities LOL (Bees Knees, Midget!!!!!) Thanks again!!!!” – Open House Attendee, Terry Lane

      • Sir Maverick – Offered for sale and is in hunter/jumper training with Matt Lawson and gave a wonderful demonstration at the event.
      • Dreammaker – another one of our talented Gypsy Vanner Stallions who is in training as well. He’s training and competing in driving events with Ashley Jenkins. Watch for the Dreammaker in the Veteran’s Day Parade in Knoxville, Tennessee on November 11 at 10:45 am.

      • BeesKnees – This charismatic stallion is famous in Wales and we’re extremely pleased with his first US born Gypsy Filly – LexLin’s Brilliance. Watch for many more of his foals to arrive in 2011! BeesKnees is enjoying the fall and winter out in the pastures with his mares.
      • The Midget – a well built and well known Gypsy stallion that gave us some outstanding foals in 2010! His last foal of the season Heavy Metal is particularly stunning red and white colt!
      • Geronimo – Our newest breathtaking stallion to arrive from Wales. We’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first US foals next spring and the addition of his bloodlines to our gypsy horse herd! Reserve one of his 2011 foals in utero today!
      • The Producer – aka the Buck Horse, 25 Grand Horse, Kent Horse and so on as he is known around the world. This Gypsy Vanner stallion is loved by all at LexLin and continues to produce outstanding offspring with his correct conformation, color and most of all his level headed and trainable nature. He was presented at one of the first GHVS Inspections this year and earned his 5 star rating by the judges.

      Gypsy Vanner Foals

Following the stallions several of the Gypsy foals we’ve been blessed with in 2010 were led out for the crowd to inspect and admire. This foaling season went extremely smoothly and we were blessed with many exceptional  Gypsy fillies along with a few colts. In 2011 we’re expecting 60+ Gypsy Vanner foals out of our mares. Ask about reserving a 2011 foal  in utero to ensure the best price and priority in selecting a quality Gypsy Horse at an extremely reasonable price! Inquire about the terrific holiday financing and specials that are going on between now and New Years!

Check back tomorrow and every day this week for recaps and photos on more of the happenings during our LexLin October 2010 Gypsy Horse Open House.

Gypsy Horse Open House – A Success!

Posted on November 8, 2010 with No Comments

A grand time was had by Gypsy Horses and humans alike at our 2010 Fall Open House. We firmly believe in the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed and the horses performances on Saturday, October 16, 2010 confirmed this!

Preparation for this event started months in advance with reseeding, dragging and fertilizing the pastures, training horses from groundwork up through driving, western riding, jumping, working with the mares and foals, gathering a great team for the event and promoting the open house.

Over 300 visitors came throughout the day enjoying everything from the stallion and offspring parade to some wonderful raffles, demonstrations by trainers, great food, music, vendors, pasture tours and more.

We’ve received gracious comments from many who attended the Open House. Thanks to all who came to the event.

We love sharing this breed with all we meet. Whether you are an avid Gypsy Horse owner, considering getting into the breed or love the chance to visit with beautiful horses at the ranch with your family you’re welcome to schedule a visit at any time or wait for our next Open House! The next Gypsy Horse Open House and Spring Gypsy Horse Production Sale will be scheduled sometime in the spring of 2011. We are planning on another October open house with a fall production sale to follow as well! Watch our website for details in the coming weeks.
